About the treatment

The Alma fractional radio frequency is our newest treatment, and it produces phenomenal results! This is a revolutionary treatment for non-ablative skin resurfacing and tightening with high efficacy and no down time. The Fractional laser penetrates deeper than other devices (up to 1mm), reaching the dermis. This approach stimulates quick healing with no lasting redness.

This is excellent for deep lines and wrinkles and pitted scarring. Other skin resurfacing devices such as CO2 lasers are very ablative and remove the epidermis as well as some of the dermis. Good results are seen in the long run however, there is a risk of infection for several weeks while the skin is healing. During the treatments you will use a collagen gel to boost collagen production. When complete, the skin looks tighter and brighter and rejuvenated!

Ablative vs. Non-Ablative Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing treatments fall into two broad groups. Non-ablative options, such as the Alma fractional radio frequency treatment, work beneath the surface while leaving the outer layer of skin intact. Ablative options, such as CO2 laser resurfacing, remove thin outer layers of skin and generally involve more healing time.

The fractional treatment offered at our practice is non-ablative, so it is designed with less downtime in mind. Pixel laser is another fractional option, and your provider will explain which approach fits your skin.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing may suit adults who want to improve sun damage, uneven tone, rough texture, fine lines and wrinkles, or acne scarring. The right option depends on your concerns and how much recovery time you can plan for.

At your consultation, your provider will review your skin type, health history, medications and recent sun exposure. From there, you will talk through which resurfacing option fits your goals.

What to Expect During Your Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment

Your appointment starts with cleansing the skin and reviewing your goals for the area being treated. Your provider will explain what you may feel and how comfort is managed. With the Alma fractional treatment, a collagen gel is also applied as part of the process.

The handpiece is then passed over the skin one section at a time. Treatment time depends on the area and the option you choose, and your provider will go over it at your consultation.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Results and Aftercare

Laser skin resurfacing prompts your skin’s natural renewal and collagen production, so results develop gradually rather than all at once. Results vary, and your provider will recommend a treatment plan, including how many sessions may be right for you.

Aftercare depends on the type of treatment, since non-ablative and ablative resurfacing have different recovery instructions. In general, expect gentle skincare, daily sunscreen, limited sun exposure and no picking at healing skin.

Pairing Laser Skin Resurfacing with Other Treatments

Laser skin resurfacing focuses on skin texture and tone, so it can be paired with treatments that address other concerns. Dermal fillers and injectables can help with volume and expression lines, and an IPL photofacial targets redness and sun spots. Medical-grade skincare helps prepare your skin and care for it afterward.

Cost is reviewed at your consultation, and financing is available.

What is laser skin resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a treatment that improves skin texture, tone, and overall appearance by stimulating collagen production. The fractional treatment offered at our practice is non-ablative, meaning it works beneath the surface to reach the deeper layer of the skin while leaving the outer layer in place. It can help with lines and wrinkles, pitted scarring, and skin that looks uneven or tired.

The cost of laser skin resurfacing depends on your individual treatment plan, including the areas treated and the number of sessions recommended. Your plan and its cost are reviewed with you at your consultation, and financing options are available.

How long laser skin resurfacing results last varies from patient to patient. Because the treatment works by stimulating collagen, improvements in texture and tone develop gradually, and skin can look tighter and brighter once your treatment plan is complete. Your skin continues to age and respond to sun exposure, so your provider will explain what to expect and whether maintenance treatments make sense for you.

Laser skin resurfacing can cause some discomfort, and how it feels varies from person to person and with the treatment settings and area treated. Your provider will talk with you about ways to stay comfortable during treatment. Some warmth or sensitivity afterward is common.

To prepare your skin, limit sun exposure and tanning before treatment and follow the specific instructions your provider gives you. Let your provider know about any history of cold sores, skin conditions, or medications you take, since these can affect your treatment plan. Your provider will evaluate your skin at your consultation and explain any other steps to take beforehand.

Healing time varies from patient to patient, but the fractional treatment offered at our practice is non-ablative and is designed for quick healing with no lasting redness. Some temporary redness, swelling, or sensitivity can occur after treatment. Your provider will explain what to expect and give you aftercare instructions, including how to protect your skin from the sun while it heals.
